Post-Thanksgiving Cleanse? Skip the Fruit!

Surprising facts about dangers of too much fruit

Many people think that the best way to cleanse after a holiday such as Thanksgiving is to go on a fruit-juice fast. However, there are a number of problems with consuming fruit. After years of having fruits pushed on you as "healthy" foods that can be consumed without consequences, be ready for some surprises.

What you don't know about fruit can hurt you

Be wary of sugars that are lurking in fruits. They are incredibly high in the glycemic index (GI) scores. When you consume these foods, your blood sugar increases at an alarming rate. This results in the toxic advanced glycation end products (AGEs). What this means to you is that ingesting these foods leads to an increased likelihood of developing adult-onset diabetes; or if you already have the condition, it will be more difficult to manage. Elevated blood glucose levels have been associated with premature aging, cardiovascular disease, muscle weakening, cataracts, high blood pressure, dementia, kidney disease, and more. While this list may seem a little outrageous; studying the effects of AGEs is eye-opening. They create oxidants (responsible for many diseases) and beta amyloid molecules (which are deposited in the brain in Alzheimers), in their wake. AGEs themselves crosslink molecules, resulting in unwieldy, inflammatory monster chemicals that can ultimately build up and destroy cells.

Furthermore, excessive intake in fruits that have elevated sugar content help candida (yeast) to proliferate in the blood. Candida will feast on the sugars, which may be the cause of your chronically depressed energy levels. A good candida cleanse is in order after the holidays. Stay away from sugars and look into Renew Life's wonderful products.

So, as you can see, the banana in the smoothie is not as benign as you originally thought. In fact, any smoothie that claims to be a "belly flattening" concoction that contains high-GI fruits is nothing more than a marketing ploy. They do anything but help with fat reduction.

If you want a good post-Thanksgiving fast, try a water-only cleanse. You may also want to move to the advanced TIER 1 intermittent fasting diet described in The Spartan Diva Ultimate Get-Lean Diet Plan. It works like a charm, and helps with the sugar addictions.

@getmoreinfo: Yes, many people are surprised to learn this. We're conditioned to think that fruits and other sugar-laden foods (such as yogurt) are good for us. The research is shocking, and I had to share it.
